Best moments of 2011.

I had the time of my life in Melbourne, and I'm thankful for my family and friends who were supportive in my decision to take a BA in English and Behavioural Studies. The experience leading up to many other experiences have been so amazing, and I thank God for putting the seed of passion and perseverance in me. The past have helped shaped my present, and inevitably the future as well. To be honest, I left Melbourne with a heavy heart prior coming back to Singapore this time round, because I know there are bound to be some drastic changes. The past three weeks have been one of the most challenging times, and probably the toughest weeks I ever had this year. I'm writing this blog post to remind myself there are still some moments to conclude that 2011, despite the last three weeks, were indeed the best year yet.

1) Family flew down to celebrate my b'dae in March.

They could have wished me happy b'dae from SG, but they took the flight down to meet up with me. I am thankful that I'm blessed with my family. They are my best cheerleaders and have always been in my last 23 years.

2) Europe Trip in June.

Never imagined I would travel to Europe at this age. i'm blessed, very blessed.I've never felt so liberated going on this tour. Yes, I was afraid of travelling alone. I was afraid of getting mugged, and having to visit new places without anyone I know. But, it turned out to be my best travel experience ever. It is so surreal to be there, to be breathing the air of Paris, London, Rome, Milan, Florence, Prato, Munich, Tyrol, Amsterdam. Travelling had made me realised how lucky I am to be a Singaporean,and to have everything in my life despite not being a millionaire. This trip had made me understood what i should be enjoying in life and it doesn't have to be expensive. Simple pleasures do just that. I have learnt to step back and look at things differently from before. I have learnt so much more about myself and have definitely changed my perception on chasing worldly things.

3) Kris Kringle 2011

My spiritual family in Melbourne has helped me grow in my faith for God. They've shown me in action what love, family and friendship mean in these two years. Kris Kringle 2011 showed me that these are the people I will keep and cherish for the rest of my life. The homely setting where we all sat in, and talked and appreciate one another is one that I've never come across. They've accepted my flaws and helped me work on them, and for that thank you.

For calling me out of the blue when I'm either taking a dump, or doing something wierd. Thank you, because you always call when I least expect anyone else's call and just checking up on me. Thank you for all your impromptu calls, because you make me feel that you think about me.

Our friendship has grown so much. Despite being so far away, I always felt you were always there when I needed you. Thank you for your love and because of you, I now believe strangers can be the best of friends.

. Coming to the end of 2011 is just a good way of welcoming in 2012. I guess this year reminded me to take note of my surroundings. To stop and admire. To stop and listen. To stop and smile. To stop and appreciate. To stop and give. To stop and forgive. To stop and embrace.

There are many other events that shaped 2011 and have in one way or another contributed to my 2011. I ain't writing resolutions, but will aim to write a list of events/people who inspire me, novels that empower me to be hungry for more knowledge, and simple things that make me smile in 2012. To all who reads, I wish that you have the best count down to a year that will be filled with heaps of 'best moments'.

I have two weddings to attend to this month. One is on the 11th, and one on the 18th. It is amazing that most of my friends are getting married, or have a family already. Anyway, our party theme was pastels, and I wore my Alice + Olivia jumpsuit. The set up looked as if we had it at a restaurant, or better. I am rather impressed with the layout of food that Sharon and Isabel did. Now, I want to host a high tea session at my place too!

Not long ago, Brown came up with the long wear eye shadow, and just recently Chanel churned up their very own long wear luminous eye shadow. I was never a big fan of Bobbi Brown, but thanks to Stanley who relentlessly told me to give it a shot. Well, I'm glad I did because they have the longest lasting gel liner ever, and I have been using them since. Why so? It did not smudge even after 23hours of flight time, and it proved to be amazingly good in blending with my other eye shadows.

Well, after reading much mix reviews on Bobbi Brown's product, I decided to get it and try it out for myself, and got it in Beach Honey. I would say it is rather light,and looks great with normal to tan asian skin colour. On the bright side, it adds a slight definition to your eye, but on the downside, it creases after a few hours.

Just a few weeks back, I bought Chanel's luminous eye shadow in Illusoire. It is absolutely stunning. Yes, it is stunning! Honestly, I bought it because it looked the prettiest of them all. But, it actually complements my Quadra eyeshadow in Vanites amazingly well! Also, I used it as an eyeliner sometimes, or add a light stroke over it. The after effect is smoky purple eyes.It definitely lasts more than 12 hours or so, if you prime and moisturise your face before applying it. The application is easy and it comes with a mini Chanel brush (Plus Point!). But I prefer to use a proper blending brush for it. Well, it glides onto the eye areas without stretching my skin, and I could layer them twice/thrice, because it is not too strong in the first stroke. I personally like eye makeup like this, because I get to choose the type of intensity I want for my look.

Sorry if it isn't very clear, but my eyeliner is rather visible and the shimmer above it is illusoire.

Verdict: Bobbi is good, and great for a nude look. However, I'd prefer Chanel not because of its brand or whatsoever, but because it gives me the flexibility in going for a soft shade, or a much intense look.

Oh yes, I am back after a three months break up with blogger. Three months back, I blogged that I was going to tell you guys how my Europe trip went, but it seems that I got lost in post-holiday syndrome. Well, I have returned down south, unpacked and settled way back, and my facebook pictures definitely spoke a million words, so I think I'm going to skip publishing all the photos and save my time in doing so.

But the one thing that I want to share is the balm that held my lips together throughout the month long of summer dry spells and fluctuating night temperature in Europe, and it is none other than, Avene Cold Cream Lip Balm.

Trust me, I have tried many brands, Chanel, Paw Paw, Nivea Gloss, Nivea Matte, Vaseline, Chapstick, and Blistex. But they have never worked at all. I do have normal skin, but when it comes to 'THE LIPS', it becomes exceptionally dry and sensitive when it is not in its ideal living condition (Sadly, my lips do have a mind of its own). When I was in Paris, it tore,bled and chapped. But, the great thing about Paris is that they have a Pharmacy every 50 metres (literally). So, while my parents and I were walking down Rue La Fayette, we made a desperate stop at one to grab a lip balm. The pharmacist told us to take it from a bowl full of lip balms. Oh yes, I can be a brand whore. I was quite skeptical at first, because it only costs me two euros. Coming from SG/Melbourne, that is dirt cheap, and cheap things aren't always good. I know Avene is avilable in SG, but have only tried their mist water, but it is rather unsuitable for Sg's humid weather.

Anyway, so I used that for the trip, and my lips restored to being smooth and supple in about two to three days. It was that quick, and I was able to use my lipstick after that period. When I came back to Melbourne, the tube was already to its end. I tried searching for it in all the pharmacies, and even emailed Priceline if they still carried stock for it. Unfortunately, they no longer do. You see, I will never buy anything online unless I'm real desperate. Desperate because my lips started cracking and bleeding again under the winterish weather here, and eventually resorted in getting them online at TheGarden.

The great thing about this lip balm is that it doesn't feel, or leave a sticky after feeling at all. It has a slight shimmer in it, and it makes a good protection and cover for the lips. Also, I think it can be used as a lip primer before applying your lipstick, and it can also be used alone as a nudie. It has indeed become one of my beauty essentials. Affordable and long-lasting.

On a side note, I'm going to be doing an eye-shadow post next. So, stay tuned! Sigh, bad weather prevents me from doing anything outdoors + the urge of writing something gave birth to this post.

I just finished my assignment for my study trip in Italy, so I can take it off my mind when I'm travelling this three weeks! I'm all packed, and set for Paris. My flight is at 9.30pm and will be transiting at Dubai. Geez, The flight duration is 22 hours long, and I'm hoping I'm able to sleep on the plane.

When uni starts, you can't wait for it to be over. When it ends, you can't wait for it to start. I have a love/hate relationship somehow, but luckily I love what I'm studying, or it'll be worse. Well, right now, I wished that the semester have not ended and I'm in uni. At least I'll be out of the house most of the week, but I'm stuck at home and doing my best to focus and study for my Lit. paper next monday. It isn't easy to pick up the study pace after three weeks of break, and the distraction is unbearable. You see, I have only been browsing online all these while, but I have not bought a single item since my arrival in Feb, because I wanted to save for the 26th of June, or so I thought.

Anyhoo! I have been eyeing this baby pink Alice + Olivia silk-blend Jumpsuit from theoutnet.com for a while now, and I just had to get it! It looked so comfortable, and effortlessly chic. It really is quite a good deal and I doubt it would be that affordable if I were to buy it at the store. Well, I kinda pictured myself with it in the summer weather, under the Eiffel Tower. Ok, the buy is justified! Now, I can't wait for it to arrive!

Last Friday marked the end of another semester, and it felt exceptionally good. Well, there were three essays due last week, a plan and a test to cherry-top it all. This semester pushed my reading boundaries, because we were given quite a daunting task of completing 22 novels in 11 weeks. Well, I complaint and whined that I had to read so many books, and I was at the breaking point of reading. These books did not allow me to glance through the pages, because if I do, I'll miss what the book is about. Then again, some books are so boring that I allowed myself to drift when I was only in for 10 pages. Bad move - I had to re-read again.

At the start, I thought to myself that these English units might kill my love for novels. You know, reading not because you want to but that you had to, or risk looking like a loser in the tutorial classes. But, now at the end of it, the feeling of accomplishing Post-Modernism books is indescribable. It has taken my whole reading experience up to the next level, and I definitely think it has made me want to read wider genres. Reading is not just a hobby, it encompasses one's love for creative knowledge. Of all the books that I've cried reading to, got angered about, pondered on over days, and talked over it with a friend, it's amazing how something simply stationary could evoke emotions to remain in the novel's time and space.

So, I strongly encourage you all to grab a novel.It doesn't have to be post-modernist, and start the habit of reading. I love hiding in a little corner, away from noise and everybody else, but that novel I hold. It allows you to enter into another world of a different time and space journey.

I'm not quite sure Masterchef is airing at other countries, but it is quite a show here in Australia. Well, I have never really try at baking simply because I thought baking was such a chore. All the tedious work just to pop the pastry in the oven, waiting nervously if it would be a success, or a failure, and to devour it in 15mins after it's done. Simple put, it's too much work. But, while watching the contestants on Masterchef rolling pastry,beating eggs,and mixing in flour and cinnamon ground whet my appetite, and made me want to start baking again. In fact, my mouth was drooling at the episode, while they were supposed to do Maggie Beer's desserts that had a nectarine and frangipane flan. It looked so delicious, and guess where I was watching it. In the gym! It kinda inspired me to do my own flan, and here it is, caramelised apple flan. I got the recipe off the net, and it seems pretty good to start baking again with something simple.

Also, getting the equipment to get a good mixture and the froth is not exactly cheap. A kitchenaid stand cost nearly 450. =( Well, I've just started again, so I just hand beat all my cake mixtures, and wait till I'm pretty good.Then I'll get one. Last Sunday,I made a butter cake using Sue Ann's recipe - great basic recipe to try out. It's the kind of satisfaction when you pop the oven cover and find your cake golden brown and moist inside, which you would not get anywhere else . Flow state, baby, flow state.

I made it fancier by adding icing sugar on it.

And just last friday, I made Danish Cookies. Before I get to that, John and I were just having brunch at Clarendon Street few days ago, and we chanced upon a quaint little book store. The literatures were on sale, and I just went a little nuts there, and spent nearly an hour browsing all the books there. Oh, they were dirt cheap books, and prices were slashed at least 70%. Well, I didn't get any literature books, but I got myself two baking books, which I found rather simple. I just started and of course, I wouldn't want to demoralise myself by getting a tough cookie book, and then get all disappointed. But yeah, back to the Danish Cookies, that was where I got the recipe from. It's good on it's own and will probably taste better with vanilla and elderflower flower ice cream.

It is not hard at all to make me laugh. I laugh quite easily. But it definitely takes quite a great deal to piss me off. The sad thing is when friends around you take advantage of your magnanimous nature and starts to take everything,including you, so lightly in all aspect, and expect you to take a fudging chill pill when what lies ahead is of utmost importance. So, I stopped trying to make heaps of vague buddies, because I don't see why I need so many of them. It is irony for one to get angry when one forgives and forget easily. So, when do I draw the line?

I had both my Pastors coming down from Singapore for a short getaway, and I think they truly deserved it. It was amazing just to hang out with them, and catch up what Ron, John and I have missing out back home. Anyway, we took them out to eat, it was just a pig out session for all of us. I think we stuffed them a little too much with John and I getting hungry every 2-3hours. I blame the weather, period. We brought them to the Yarra Valley for a tour around the vineyards, tasted vintage,dry,and sweet wines. Yeah, I know I've been there many times, but seriously, I can never get bored looking at the beautiful scenary, getting away from the heavily polluted city and the ever rambling sounds from the tram tracks. I, too learnt something new each time I visit Yarra. It's fun being the tour guide for a change, and a navigator for once! John is the one always navigating to all these trips. So, this time, he said if I want to learn to get to hard to reach places, I should learn to guide the driver. haha, but thank God, my sense of direction have obviously improved over the year, or else we would probably spent our time driving around and not getting to vineyards. But also Ron was such a good driver, and he didn't yell at me when I said, 'ops, I think we past the turning' in so many instances. hehe.

Simple Sweets

I went on a fishing trip with the gang last friday and we had such a good time! Compared to my last fishing trip at Brisbane which I caught nothing, but end up feeding fishes in the ocean, I caught about seven pinkies (snappers) this time around! haha, i was quite happy cause I was the second one who caught something! The trip at Brisbane was just disastrous, but a hilarious time looking at my sister struggling, while reeling in a huge codfish. I was so afraid her petite frame might be succumbed to the strength of the fish and she'll end up in the ocean. Anyway, so back to my trip at Melbourne, our team caught about 15 snappers with the size of 28-35cm long. We had the fishes steamed and asam-ed the very next day. Credits to Sof and Soon-Ee for gutting and scaling the fishes!

Hanging out with Sof and Soon-Ee means getting to dine and wine better. In the past year, I have gotten to know so much more about cheeses, desserts, and wines. I'm learning so much more than what I seek to learn when I first came to Melbourne. So thankful for having good friends whom are gastronomists, and I still have so much more to learn. Seriously, I'm loving Melbourne more and more each time.

It is about time I update this web infested page of mine. My birthday weekend started last tuesday and lasted till Monday, how awesome is it! There are just too many pictures to upload here, so I'll only post up the highlights of them. It is so sweet of them for flying down to Melbourne to celebrate my birthday. The way my mum told me over the phone was, ' hey dear, we're coming in next week.' She state it like a matter of fact and it was as if she planned it all in the last six months. So happy to see them again, I really can't wait for my graduation, and then I'll be back for good. Anyway, so last wed, my sis was the first to arrive. Her insane laughter is something I can never get from anyone else. She's not just my sis but a damn awesome buddy too! I can't imagine all the over the top stuff we've done over the past 23 years. OMG -there I said it, I AM 23 YEARS OLD. But still looking fabulously hot and I intend to stay that way in the next 100 years (self-denial, in progress). Well, I brought her to brunch at BIG MOUTH at St.kilda. Well, they said they were famous for their brunches,but even before I could sink my fangs into my eggs, the waitress got my eggs done sunny side-up. But I wanted scrambled! Oh well, never mind but it tasted alright though. I took her to San Churros after that and I think we got high from chocolate overdosed and went completely bonkus at the beach and Docklands park, which you'll get to see later on.

The next day, we woke up at 6am to pick up our parents from the station, and went on to Docklands for brunch. Also, mum bought us each a maxi dress there. I got a really pretty blue and white striped dress, while sis got a floral lace maxi, and the best part was they only cost $30 for two. The quality was good and I have already worn it four times within this two weeks. Basically, thursday was to get my travel stuff properly settled and I went to STA at uni.Well, previously I thought of heading to Paris, London, Netherlands, Germany and Italy by ourselves. You know, do all the planning myself and have more time doing what we want compared to if we were going on a tour group. But then, sis and mum thought it would be better for us to go on a Topdeck tour with other travellers, and not worry about looking for directions. Then, I decided maybe we should go on tour instead of doing it alone. I don't want to risk us having to waste time just to look for places and miss out on other sightings and shoppings. But, for the Paris and London, we'll both have time do whatever we want as we have four nights each at both cities. The Topdeck tour will only start from London, and then, we'll head Amsterdam-Munich-Venice in a period of eight days and seven nights. So, my trip is 95% settled and really looking forward to it!

On Friday, we head up to Yarra Valley. We went on a Chandon wine tour, which I've never done before, despite being there for about the third time now. Beautiful landscape and setting, perfect place for a weekend getaway. We tried on some champagne, had some ash cheese, truffled infused cheese at the Yarra Dairy Farm. J drove us to the rose garden, and that was pretty much our last stop. We had some picturesque moment and headed home for dinner at Madam Sou Sou, a French restaurant. My family had dinner with some of my friends and it was awesome to have a get together, enjoy some good food and wine. It was the best kind of friday I had.

The good news is my parents and sis will be down in the city next weekend to celebrate my birthday!! =) How sweet of them right??? Bad news, I have a test the day after my birthday and an essay and test due the following week.How nice. I am reading and writing as much as I can today,tomorrow and Sunday, so I can take a breather when they're here. I hope I'll be able to complete my readings for the test by Sunday and read two novels by the end of next week. I never felt this kind of stress in my previous semester, but I'm still blogging and doing normal deb stuff. So I guess it's still manageable.

Anyway, so last weekend J and i went to catch Top Gear Live. You know, I don't know much about cars till I watched their shows. So, while we were walking down memory lane of these supercars, J would go, 'hey, omg, this is a Ferrari F40!' and I would be like 'nice'. He would probably feel the same way if I were to bring him down to Jimmy Choo's vintage.haha, there were so many people there and the weather wasn't good either. It was pouring and yes, my loafers got wet. My loafers got wet! I almost strangled J for taking me there, but the look on his face was like a kid entering a candy store for the very first time. And So I shut up and brushed it off. I should have brought a plastic bag for it, if only I could predict the damn weather. Oh well, largely because J watched them and fair enough, their witty british humour are at most times, hilarious. But sadly, Richard, the short one who was and will always be made fun by his other two co-host did not turn up. It was quite entertaining and the stunts at the main show was quite exciting, except at times I had to re-adjust my position so that the guy sitting next to me would not brush his hairy arm onto mine. Nevertheless, took pictures with some pretty cool cars and yeap, here you go!

Brunch at Miss Marples

We brought Katie to Mt Dandening for brunch. It was a good thing that she drives, and so we took her Cooper out for a spin the whole of last friday. J and I haven't been up to Sassafras for quite awhile, and it was nice to head up there again. It was rather liberating to look at the magnificent view from the peak of Dandenong.

This is what we did -

The Tea House - I love this tea house and I would proclaim this as one of the best teahouse ever. When Mel brought me here in 2009, I fell in love with this little shop cause it makes me feel like a first year Hogwarts' student buying potion from one of the wizard shops at Daigon Alley.

Sky High is just one of the many touristy spots to go. They have a small yet cozy garden to walk around. Spectacular view, but sad to say, the food at the cafe was horrendous. The chips were dried, and it felt like they've undergone the process of frying for a couple of times.

Our last stop for the day was at William Ricketts Sanctuary.Well, a strong wave of tranquility swept through J and Katie, but I felt the place was a tad too creepy for timid me. The sculptures were amazingly human like, you could see the expression of the faces quite clearly. But I couldn't look right into their eyes for more than three seconds, I was too afraid the sculpture's eyes might blink or something. I was gracefully freaked out by the many intricately-created statues erected on the ground, next to hundred years old trees.Nevertheless, it was quite a peaceful and enjoyable moment for us three.

The picture I thought stood out from the others that J took. A stunning beauty, isn't it?

I had cupcake session with cell on Saturday, and went to Top Gear on Sunday, which I would post here the next few days. Anyway, I've paid for my Europe trip!! Melbourne-Paris-London-Netherlands/Germany-Italy-Melbourne. I can't wait and this is going to be a highlight to look forward to this year!!

My favourite meal after a workout session,

Scarmbled eggs with ham, steamed broccoli and a thick wholemeal toast.

I understand my body very well, and it is important when I workout or eat. In doing so, I alter my workout to target the areas that I want to lose/gain mass, and I increase the amount of food intake after every workout. Well, I have asked a few personal trainers about my tiny frame, and there's nothing I can do about it except to workout, sleep well, have a good diet and take protein shakes. It is not advisable to constrain your diet to fruits and veggies during the weekdays, and then binge eat during the weekends. Binge eating, I'm talking about pizza, fried food, and desserts within two days. I read somewhere in Men's Health that your body actually absorbs more unhealthy fats, and your weekdays plan will be completely overrun by the type of food you eat during the weekends. I guess I'm lucky, I don't have a sweet tooth or a taste bud that requires three tea-spoon of salt in a 100g of stir-fry broccoli. If you're hooked to high amount of sodium laced food and wants to cut down, you can! I read again in Men's Health that if you cut down on salt, for example, limiting to 1.5 tea-spoon on your broccoli, within two weeks, you would find that you would not have any urge in adding more salt. Thus, cutting them down to half, or a pinch of salt would take another two weeks. And so, within a month, you would be living on a healthier lifestyle!

The type of cooking you do is important, I particularly love food that are either in soup forms,baked, grilled or steamed. For example, breast meat has the lowest fat and I tend to use it for stir fry. But I can't have breast meat all the time, or I'll find it too healthy and repulsive. Thigh and drumstick works for me. Grill a fillet of saba fish/salmon/cod with garlic and olive oil at 200deg for 45mins, and trust me, it keeps you full throughout the night.

This is typical deb-food day:

Breakfast - 500ml of chilled water, a bowl of oats, or wholemeal thick toast with jam/peanut butter,or two scrambled egg sandwich and a cup of Milo.

Lunch - Katsu Curry Don

Tea-Time - wholemeal bread with blueberry jam

Dinner - Fried Rice/Chicken Soup/stir-fry veggies.

After Dinner- Nuts/Fruits/M&Ms

And I don't count my calories, or it'll be very hard to enjoy life and the wonders of food. I eat whatever I want but chooses the right methods and ingredients in cooking them.

Anyway, I've found an incredible way to get sick abs. It is painful and requires a lot of discipline, but I'm heading for class now. So, I'll do it sometime soon!

PS: In case you're wondering why I read Men's Health, and did harbour the thought that I might be a man. I'm reading it because the BF reads them.

So Here I Am..

UNI

In Uni, the first week has passed quite quickly for me. This semester would require me to read,think and write more critically than I ever have in the previous semesters. For my English Major, I'll be studying the Race and Class of American Literature, and Post Modern literature. Post-modernism, gosh, tell me about it. Also, I would be taking a unit on personality for Behavioural Studies, and a more controversial unit, Sex and Crime.

I think I have a gift in reading people's personality, and I tend to be spot on but I do ignore the obvious sometimes. Anyway, I have been really busy reading. A novel a week? This is really stretching my reading skills, not just speed reading but I need to analyse the characters, the structure, and tone of the entire book. Well, they're easy reads at about 150 pages for now. I think it will progress in the further weeks to come. The truth is I HAVE NOTHING TO DO, NOTHING.....WITHOUT THE INTERNET....I read to kill time, but at the same time the internet would do much more harm when it's back on next week - distractions and disturbances. I can't do anything, can't get online for a little bit of social life (I refuse to use 3G unless I'm desperate), to view and look for hotel accommodation for my Paris/Italy trip, check out the new arrivals at Topshop and Asos, get in touch with my mails, ogle at gorgeous model-wannabe at lookbook, and the sad list goes on and on. I can't believe how much the social and technology revolution has change my hobby so much. It is affecting me. Alot.

Then again, it is irony that I'm totally upset that Borders is going to have its rollers down forever. You know, there are people like me, who likes the pleasure of holding a vintage book not an iPad but a book, physically glued to your palms for a couple of hours, taking deep breaths of new paper-pulp and sipping on a cup of Earl Grey, or a glass of Moscato. All this to me is the simplest pleasure of life.

ITALY UPDATE

A little update on my Prato:Italy Trip. I will be travelling with a close buddy, Biha. We have hold plane seats and if everything goes well, we will be flying on the 1st of July from Melbourne to Paris and we're planning to stay there for about two/three nights. After that, we will hop on the EURAIL to Florence, Venice and a day trip to Pisa, train to Milan, and then Prato, where will be having our lessons there. We are crossing our fingers that we'll be able to visit Germany for 2 days or so, depending on the class schedule we have. We will be keeping Rome till the last day or we might extend our stay in Rome for the last few days and fly back to Melbourne from there. I am praying that we will get the best accommodation and rail tickets, because a train ticket for 5 days cost AUD359. So, you see, I need internet to look for a casual job to get extra money for this insanely worthy trip in July.

And to sum it all, this is me in the foreground of a messy living room. I have yet to decide what I should to do about the mattress. We have a really small apartment

A mixture of food and friends made all the hassles of bus and train rides all worth while. I went to Arteastiq at Mandarin Gallery last friday with Sel and J. We couldn't really find the place because it was hidden behind a furniture store, but I think they are part of Arteastiq. Cotton-candy coloured chairs, floral wallpapers, and empty rattan birdcages greeted us in that little tiny space. I heard about this place when Biha celebrated her friend's birthday and thought it looked perfect for a day's brunch. But one thing that didn't quite agree was that they had no scones or cakes. It was and is a teahouse, no?

But the crab crispy wrap was good, I wouldn't say it was fantastic but it was delicious and light. It didn't taste too much of mayo or had a fishy smell, because some crab I've tasted do leave a weird taste on my tongue. Being a sucker for details, I absolutely adored their food presentation, because the food was laid out neatly, and they used floral printed tea cups for my rose tea( I love anything with floral details). For tea lovers like me, they had uniquely blend teas, so you should head there if you want something different.

One would think that brunch, or high tea would cost you enough to get a proper steak at a cafe, but Arteastiq was pretty affordable. Their savoury items were less than ten dollars and their sweet were at about six dollars, we did not try their sweet because J wanted his Ben and Jerry's dessert. I guess it is better to bring your girlfriends there for a time to relax before any retail therapy and get those tummies filled, but not overly done. I would bring my girlfriends there, but I would call to see if they have scones/cakes before hand. So, let me whet your appetite.

A little bit of chocolate and you.

It was quite funny how we came about doing what we did on V'day, but I thought it was more of common sense. Instead of getting squashed and sitting just inches away from other couples in the evening at romantic hotspots, we decided to have a simple picnic at Botanic Gardens.

We had some bite-sized fudge cake, melons, blueberries and club sandwiches, and it was more than enough. It was the company that matters, and besides V'day doesn't happen only on the 14th of Feb. The remaining 364 days is what makes 14th Feb extra special. You celebrate 364 days of love and happiness. Well, it was a good one for me. =)

12th Feb - LifeUnited Church Opening Service

I played percussion, bodied-percussion and dance for the opening item. Yeah, I've seen STOMP did it, but never thought I'd try it myself. LIFEbeats ROCKS! My first ever attempt in playing drums, and I must say I've never felt so liberated in hitting those little metal tins. It felt that awesome, and I want to play more of it!

I enjoyed myself so much. Thanks for the opportunities to try new stuff!

I separated the posts because they were too long. After SHOP, we went off to shop in town and we stopped by Royal Copenhagen for a snack/tea, but it later turned out to be a late lunch! I love the interior furnishes of Fullerton Bay Hotel, so classy and architectural.

Stan ordered their ice lemon tea - I didn't believe him that it tasted that good till I tried it.

On a side note, remember my 31st dec 2010 post? I wrote 'get my retainers done in Jan 2011!' and I am THRILLED that I'll be going down for an appointment with my orthodontist on tuesday to get the mould done! Congrats to myself that one of my resolution is on its way to fulfillment. Why do I want to do my retainers, vain? Not really. Save the teeth, save the money? Hell yeah,I don't want to bucktooth my savings. All the pain for two and a half years, the tightening of the metal wire and the inability to even eat porridge after that every month or so. I have always wanted to do my retainers, but I never got round doing it for years, I haven't wore them for nearly six years and I think it's time to start again. Well, the urge kicked in harder after a visit to a dentist last december and he said I should be wearing my braces FOR LIFE, because the teeth moves each time we brush, poke our tongue against our teeth and last but not least, the not-so-wise wisdom tooth will eventually grow, force its way out and change the alignment of my beautiful teeth. Even though I've extracted four tooth for my braces, there might be a chance where the wisdom tooth might not bother my teeth at all, but why take the risk? It sounded horrible, that was why I put it as my top priority.

Hopefully, my teeth hasn't change much and I don't have to put any braces. *Cross fingers for tuesday*

The Pavillion was where it housed a number of foreign and local designers booth. My counterparts (Stan and Kaman) and I were each given a pink satin tie on our wrist. Our lovely door angel, Jamie handed us the goodie bag and we were off into the arena of buys. The first booth we went to was, Deja Vu Vintage. I was in love with a gold-plated pearl vintage ring, the pearls were stacked on top of the ring,and it gave off this classic look.

We moved on to Rayure's, but to be honest. I was disappointed with the racks of clothes that were on sale. Yes, it was fantastic that some were 50-70% off, but they looked rather miserable. I was all set and ready to spend on Rayure, but some of their clothes were yellowish in colour. Perhaps, it's better to go to their boutique to get them.

Well, the booth that stood out for me was - Glamourpuss. I had never come across a 'bra bag', ever. It was something that I would get, as I have a few treasured lingerie. I saw some beautiful pastel pink garden tools that would come in handy for gardening. They had printed 'pamper me', 'pedi please', and a few more in cute little pouches.

When I came home and started sweeping my hands in the goodie bag, I do like what I see. I think I'll use the Toni & Guy voucher before I head back to Melbourne. Since last year, I've been thinking if I should dye my virgin hair. We'll see about that. haha.. Oh, and the sample earl grey currant cookies from Obolo was so good that I ate them up in less than 15mins. I want to get more, but their store is at Serangoon!! There were lots of vouchers in the bag and the experience at SHOP was great! I have never been to a fashion bazaar like this, move aside flea market. Cocktails and canapes ruled and what's more, I got a name card from the L'Officiel mag, maybe it'll come in handy in the future!

Great job H.B, please invite me to the Herve Leger's event when you guys have one next time, I will get my ass back from whereever I am!

What is My Resistance?

As we age, we become beautiful and wiser.Tucked in a structured trousers, black and white strips, and a cropped black jacket was my cousin, Yulina, who came over this afternoon to visit our family from New Zealand. It was so nice of her to bring some fruits and wine over, and even though this is my second meeting with her in the past three years, it felt like we had a special bond. With her black glasses, cropped black hair laced with some silvery lines, and of course, I could not have forgotten her smile - she had the most genuine smile I have ever seen and she has a commanding presence. A strong, powerful woman that most men get intimidated at. Anyway, it was good to talk about how the AUS/NZ resident/PR works, the job opportunities and the perks living down south. Well, of course the plan now for me is to finish my degree, and return to SG to work, but should I ever had the opportunities to work in Melbourne then it'll be good too, I think.

Anyway, Yulina is working for the parliament in New Zealand, and she has an Arts degree in history and political science, amazing isn't it? Both of us are Arts student, no wonder we could clique so effortlessly, and talked so easily. Have you ever went out with someone, only to be wrecking your brains to find something to talk about? I find that rather excruciatingly painful, and would choose not go out at all. She has a beautiful apartment in Wellington, and gosh, she showed me a picture of the shoes area. It is not a few shelves and definitely not a shoe cupboard, but a wall of shoes. She has little pigeon holes for all of her shoes, and against an entire wall! Now, I'd really want to take a look at the 'Shoe Wall' myself. She seems to enjoy what she's doing and look at her now, she is financially independent and in a couple of years, I'm going to do it too!

Passion - Keeps you alive in doing what you love. If you love to write, write. If you love to take photoshoots, shoot. Well, there are certain things in Singapore that restricts creativity, and jobs like being an artist, a photographer,a dancer, or a singer may not be widely accepted here, but the most important is keeping that dream alive. We tend to go with the norm, the norm of a structured society. Doctors and lawyers are the coveted jobs here, and sometime it gets a little frustrating that people stereotype the creative arts sector that we are unable to contribute to the society. I know some who have stepped out and into the creativity realm, and have since made it big in Singapore. I think the question for me this year is, what is my resistance? What is resisting me to be the same from everyone else, and what is keeping me alive today?

Summer Stuffing

Just three days ago, my family wanted to try the food at Ku De Ta. There's a $48 and $88 set lunch, but I chose the former. For starters, we had raw beef, egg plant, sashimi, and some other stuff which I can't remember. To be honest, it tasted quite horrible. I am no food critique, but my taste buds clearly didn't like them at all. For the mains,I had salmon with fried noodles and asparagus. You see, I really can't take salty food, and sometimes I suspect I have a dysfunctional taste bud. What is not salty to some might be way too salty for me. Thus, when I cook, I put really little salt for taste. Back to the salmon noodles, my lips felt really dry after eating the noodles, and so did my sis. Anyway, it was not a good experience there, and I don't think I'll ever go back there again. I'll pay for good food, but this was not worth it at all. Nevertheless, 60D with family was a good distraction.

Miyabi

We also went to Miyabi, a Japanese restaurant at RTC. I always love the decorations of the place, the tatami mats, oakwood windows, the beautiful japanese calligraphy that are on the walls, and the soothing sounds of japanese musical instruments. All these go really well with their food, and the dining experience is complemented and further enhanced by personal restaurant managers, who go that extra mile to make it memorable.

I really love J's 60D, but I'm learning the basics of how a DSLR is supposed to work. His camera is practically living with me now, and I am loving it! =)

YEAR 2011

The last few moments of 2010 were spent with my eccentric brother,homer simpson look-alike dad,crazy headless sister and a very sleepy mum. With the thousands of Singaporeans flocking to town, the whole family did not want to head down and rub shoulders with stick bodies. We didn't do much during day, but stayed home and watched 'Vampire Sucks' at home after dinner at Long Beach. Despite telling myself not to go on a binging program these two months,I, inevitably had to do so. My sister will head back to the land of floods in three days time, and sometimes I think I am Cruella, or Maleficent. I secretly want to put a spell on her so she'll somehow fall ill and won't be able to take the plane back.

Anyway, although we're all adults now, we went down to light some sparklers and burnt some grass patches like we used to do when we were kids. It was hilariously fun, and with my dad, whose little trick bags are far better than any other tricksters. I am so thankful for having such a fun-loving and spontaneous person as my dad.

Till then, I hope 2011 will be as good 2010, or better!

What A Day!

Some days I like it planned, some days I like it random. I like to pre-plan day trips to meet friends or even when I shop, somehow I feel better when I am in control to go where and get what. But being random sometimes is good, because I/we go to places undiscovered. A person becomes boring when their lives get too structured. Although, my retail therapy (with stan) can never go as planned, but I love it. So yeah, the plan for yesterday was to watch the Fockers, use his DSLR to take crazy shots, and have cod fish. But we had to bring Stubby to the vet for a checkup and get him vaccinated. I'm so happy that his coat is growing back well, and within a short period of two weeks, he had gained twice his weight when we first got him. Anyway, J and I left for Cathay only at about 6pm, and by the time we got to the ticketing counter, we were only able to catch the 7.30pm show.Boo, and the japanese restaurant would have close after the movie ended. Also, it was extremely annoying to not have a cashcard top up at the carpark, and we had to go down to the ATM machine (All in my frigging 10.5cm heels). Haha, I'm such a whiner. So, we drove all the way back to Holland V to have some crab been hoon and thought that the shop was no longer there. We wanted to head back to Jurong to have ban mian, as our last resort. It was sheer dumb luck that when we turned out from the junction, we saw the XO crab bee hoon!

At first, I thought J was raving too much about it, and I shrugged. BUT IT WAS SO DAMN GOOD THAT I ATE SO MUCHHH! Usually i don't eat past 8pm, but the crab soup was heavenly, so much so they tasted like God's tears. Indulgence.I was unconsciously comfortable gorging chunks of meat since the 23rd of December. Firstly, I had my cell group's X'mas party,and followed by John's relative's remarkable Christmas dinner with the never-ending trays of festive food. Well, I thought they ended the flow of food, but they just kept coming out from the kitchen. Also, we had two rich and creamy log cakes for dessert. My poor tummy had been forced fed the entire Christmas week, and no, that was not the end of it. The very next day, my family had the annual Christmas dinner, and despite the endless stuffing this week, my tummy refused to give up. So, the voracious cycle of carnivore consumption began. Turkey, roasted pork knuckle, slices after slices of ham, and the occasional greens my sister made. Haha, I'm not complaining about the constant chowing of food over the past few days. In fact, I loved it and being bloated once in a while was simply satisfying for me.

Moreover, it was my brother's 19th birthday yesterday and we went to Kuishin-bo buffet for dinner at Jurong Point. The seafood and shobu-shobu was too salty for me, but the chocolate mousse cake was good! Sopida and bro were dashing for the hourly promotion, where the staff would ring a bell and only the first 20 customers would get them. It was quite funny to see two of them saying,'oh shit' and threw whatever they were holding on (grapefruit and ice-cream spoon) the table to rush to the counter for the baked crayfish.

It definitely was not a usual sight of how a normal Christmas Party should be, and that made it special this year! A genius from E441 came up with the idea that for this year's Christmas theme, we're going back old school.So think, checkered and pleated skirts, knitwear and knee-high socks, boys in camouflage and dark blue uniforms. Then, we have the distinct sounds of girls giggling here and there, it pretty sure looked like high school! It was such an amazing time to share and catch up with them after six months!

Well, I didn't really know what to wear because my secondary school uniform is probably part of someone's curtain/table runner now. But I'm pretty pleased with my outfit, hehe! Here are some of the pictures, as I am unable to upload them to Facebook at this moment.

Next year will be our tenth year of friendship! Despite the distance, we have still remain very close friends..True, work and studies may forbid us from meeting one another from time to time. But I'm really encouraged by the efforts we've all put in to make our year-end party, the best night ever! I know our friendship has just risen to another level. So, here was where we stayed at - Marina bay Sands (Thanks to Sooj's friend's uncle!), we didn't have to actually paid what might have cost a disastrous depth in our pocket!

W went up to the SkyPark for a great time, and it was a pity we weren't able to swim at their pool due to some circumstances.Nevertheless. it was still a good time! Looking forward to our New Year's celebration already!

It's so funny that I find this Christmas very satisfying. I was to buy presents for everyone for the X'mas dinner this saturday, but when it was my turn to get my own..Somehow, I didn't feel like I needed anything (even though I have a broken ear piece for months). At that point, it felt like I had everything I wanted, or needed. But I think I have bought myself enough advance presents last month in Brisbane!

Side track, tomorrow's cell party is 'Back To School'. I have no school uniform, so I'll have to dress up..haha, till then, have all the love under the mistletoes, eat all the sweets and savouries, and have a joyful X'mas!

Reminiscing

The smell of burnt incense, the ticking sound on my grandfather's clock, the noir leather arm chair, and my favourite Penang laksa. My senses were always treated with thoughtful aroma, and I get foodie high from that. Well, both of my parents worked back then and I was cared for by her. I spent most of my afternoon at her two-bedroom flat, watched mandarin dramas together and she would explained all the chinese idioms to me (And unfortunately, my mandarin is still atrocious), and we would have lime and milk ice-creams after meal sometime. After spending nearly six years of after-school care at her place, and watched her squat on floors to pound chillies for asam fish/chicken curry. I'm glad I remembered all the 'how to' for some of her best dishes, even though I can never replicate a dish quite like hers. Time flies.Age and illnesses caught up with her, and she lost her confidence to cook and do her daily walks. It's my turn to take care of her now.

And just this thursday, we celebrated her 92nd birthday. Happy Birthday, Granny.

Stubbed cigarettes, empty Carlsbergs,and guetta's music in the background. Apparently, the most happening place before ZOUKOUT's cleverly line-up party was at the carpark. We went to look for Shaun and when I was there, the first thing I felt was gravel entering my slippers, and sand sneaking up in between my toes. But we were all in party mode to be bothered by it.Youths dancing and prancing around in their beach outfits, deck chairs and cooler boxes filled with mixers and Belvederes were seen. Most 2mx4m car park slots had transformed into mini Zouk. I made some friends, and caught up with Nic and Shaun for a while, and waited and waited for everyone to hit the entresol level of sober and drunk.

So off we went! It was funny for me to see so many youths spewed out their entire's day worth of booze and food before the party started. Why get so wasted, and loose your consciousness to enjoy TIESTO and DAVID GUETTA??? As we queued and gained entry for our tag and wrist band, some were not that lucky as they have purchased fake tickets and were turned down. I would be so miserably mad for that, who wouldn't be?

Anyway, We ( Kaman, Juan, Joel, John and Me) squeezed past many to get up close. The Electro/Trance were set at Arena A, and I felt a little disgusted having to rub shoulders with people who had sticky skin and BO! Yeah, but it was gooood! TIESTO played at 3AM, and the wait was worth it. I didn't mind if people were puking all whatever man, it was that awesome. Despite the huge crowd and the lack of space to dance, I was too engrossed in TIESTO's music to be bothered. Boy, I do wish they'll both come to Melbourne again! All in all, my first Zoukout and I would give it a 8/10.

And So The Day Starts!

Gosh, I woke up at 6am. Clearly I was still living in Melb time, but it is good! I had fried carrot cake and beancurd. While heading down, i couldn't help but wonder why people(like me) would want to leave Singapore besides studying and working overseas. Day in and night out, we feed our body with horrible asian food in Melbourne, and those little dodgy asian cafes who claimed they serve authentic fish head bee hoon isn't that authentic after all. With over-priced meal, I could get about five bowls here in Singapore that is truly flavoursome. Anyway, that was such a random thought!

So, I'm sure most of you know that Janet and I together with John headed up north to visit my sister in Brissy. The pictures are mostly on facebook! I love how spontaneous they are, and taking pictures with them is awesome. I don't have to feel shy in doing so. oh come on, admit it..We, women, undeniably win hands down for being complete shutterbugs. We (or I) take photos everywhere, little stuff that reminds me of a person or place. I officially declare myself a shutterbug, so don't repress yourself by being conscious about taking pictures!

The last two weeks were spent with family and cell groups. My cell headed to Philip island where we had our little retreat for bonding, and sharing. Also, to bid farewell to our korean friend, Jinny. She has been travelling in Australia and will be heading back to Korea to continue her studies. I'm so thankful that I was able to find a supportive and active cell group/ ministry in a short period of time overseas, so praise God for that! =)

This was how we were supposed to stand before we were flushed down. Man, they did the '3,2,1' and go..The first time I went down, I could feel my insides all going wrong. Amazingly, all four of us survived both times!

Anyway, my semester will end this monday after I'm done with the linguistics paper. Gosh, my brain needs to take a spin on Superman and Scooby-doo to unwind a little! I need you, holiday!

I enjoy holidays, I love year end holidays, and I absolutely love holiday makeup collections.

While searching for several op shops in town yesterday, I found myself back at Myer. I'm kidding myself right? Op shops in town, nah. There are a few but they are not op shops, they are overpriced second hand goods that I don't need. Anyway, I was at Myer yesterday to get Nic's birthday present and I got her a makeup item that was exceptionally beautiful. I tested it and I could tell that my hands loved it straight away. I'm so tempted to get one for myself now, not because it's pretty but I think it is the best item for a face that wants to be 'I'm nude' day. I can have minimum make up and still look fantastic by applying that on the face. I'll post it up anyway, but I won't reveal it to you. Just in case, she stumbles across my post.

Chanel Quadra Eyeshadows - Oh yes, these are a real bummer. Bummer Bummer. I absolutely detest choosing eyeshadow colours. But the running around makes it all so worth it after you find the right shade and mood for your eyes. I'm currently using Chanel's Quadra Eye Shadow in Kaska Beige. I bought it on board when they told me it was limited edition, and I fell for it. I can't believe I'm so gullible. Well, I blame myself. I can't resist Chanel. Ever. Anyway, I was at Myer and I saw a few shades that looked rather promising to be part of my make up essentials in a few days time.

I know what you're thinking, they are pretty pricey. Yes, they are! Personally, I would rather pay a higher price to get a good make up item that is highy-pigmented, and lasting than to buy a cheaper alternative that both you and I know you'll only use it once.

Side track, Life after 15th November will be so exciting! Janet is coming and we'll be going on holidays together! =) I'm so happy I'm going to spend X'mas in Singapore. Melbourne has no festive moods and is pretty dull, so cheerios! 4 more weeks! =)

I've got a chance to go to Italy for 2 weeks to study literature next july!

Now, it all boils down to how many applicants there are! Whatever it is, I've already embraced it and have placed myself at Quadrilatero d’Oro (Golden Quad). All the vatican museums, street and antiques market, and I'll able to eat all the truly authentic risotto and tiramisu. I think I'll drown in awe of their rich history. First Halloween Party Ever!

This was so last minute! I thought I would be meeting up with biha for some drinks, and there is no need for any halloween stuff!

And, just an 1hr before I went out, she said I have to dress up for it!! How was I supposed to decide who I was going to be and what I would be wearing. It was insane and I started googling for 'last minute halloween costumes'. Well, I went through some websites and thought that the idea of looking like a rubix cube, and walking around town in it wasn't my kind of Halloween fun.

Thus, I decided to go as 'Katy Perry', I tried doing her makeup but I exaggerated the eyeshadow a little. I didn't think I look like her AT ALL! I started rummaging through my drawer and found an elastic headband that Kaman got me as a surprise pressie. I thought I looked rather innocent in it! I finally was able to wear my London fash berry dress after THREE MONTHS!

Well, I ordered the dress online, and thought that I needed a nudie. But it seems like Halloween wanted me to take it out for a six block walk. Anyway, the DJ was terrible and they didn't play the type of music we like though.

Nevertheless, great company, great night out! Pics will be up tmr! May you receive lots of tricks and treats this Halloween!

Wow, belle just found out another friend got engaged. Three days ago, she was told that a cousin of hers got engaged.

Seems like it's the season for marriage. Well, she was kinda shocked at first but then again who was she to talk about love now? With hers poofing up into the air just awhile back! She knows it does takes a lot of effort to remain in one. Loving, caring, talking, doing things together, surprises here and there, and the list could go on and on. But all these have one thing in common - They have to be constant. Belle wonders if she's a Samantha after all when she thought she was a Charlotte. Belle hopes to find her prince charming to settle down and live comfortably. Then, they'll have kids and grow old together, and see them get married and settled. It does feel like a cycle, doesn't it?

She used to think that her relationship was the mightiest, strongest and God-sent, since she, among all friends had the longest partner ever. Perhaps her arrogance led herself to spiral down hill into the black hole of complacency, or the extreme of couple - narcissistic. Yeah, she's feeling miserable, miserable that they had to give up all the love in the world to fulfill their own selfishness. She wondered on how could a relationship sustain then without going through the cycle of consistent love? And if they do, would it be out of pure love or obligation?

Each time she listens to Henry Mancini's Moon River, the lyrics that goes, "where ever you're going, I'm going your way." To her, it meant both lovers, or someone who is out to see the world. She could never understand how someone could follow a perfect stranger till the end of time, till they lose themselves completely and embrace the other fully. She tends to have a lil Samantha in her, who calls out when she's about to enter into something deep. Something so deep that it might shake her core of stability. Then, Sam, who calls out to tell her about the many possibilities of not going into a hole, because the longer she digs, the deeper she goes.

And so, the hole did arrived some time back. What should belle do? Should she ignore Sam and enter the hole, work hard at digging it and hoping to find some treasures along the way?

You see, Melbourne doesn't have a steady flow of sunshine, so these two days have been very important for - Laundry! Gosh, I talked about putting the laundry out more often than anything else. I would say the damp clothes caused my severe skin rash, and not the cold and dry weather. Thus, the fussy potsy housemate. AND YES, I finally bought my Sex And The City: Deluxe Collection! I saw it last year around november, and I wanted to get it. But I wasn't feeling that rich to get it yet, and so I waited for it.

I've been entertaining myself lately with food. Indeed, life has become a little slow paced after the end of semester and I don't wish to be rotting and doing nothing at home. Yeah, Ernest Hemmingway had been a good company for a while, and so did SS's sonnets. Well, I find myself browsing at Nigella's websites most of the time, and decided to spend some time with food. I guess I'm pretty lucky to have grown up in a family where we, as kids are supposed to help out in the kitchen when the family is cooking. Food surrounds our life, and I guess that is why I, or my entire family have a good taste for food. I'm still trying out my cooking/baking skills, and hopefully in time to come, it'll taste like my granny's!

Anyway, J and I went to check out a japanese restaurant at docklands, but I think he wanted to take his other date out!

Yesterday was the last day of school! I haven't gotten a chance to update since the last post, because of assignments. But i'm free for now! I only have 1 paper on the 15th of November, and I'll be heading to my sis's place with Janet and John for two weeks! =D
The pictures of my Sydney have been posted on Facebook, so I guess most of you have seen it. I indulge so much when I was there, made new discoveries and gained experiences that I wouldn't have back in SG. I would think that studying overseas has given me freedom in doing things that I want to do. I feel that I'm no longer trapped in that lil bubble that prohibited me to gain new insights, try new stuff, go for adventures, and be so much more independent.

Anyway, you wouldn't believe that I went for Adam Lambert's concert just three nights ago. Well, J's mum is the biggest fan of Adam that I've ever seen in my life, or any artist for that matter. The Melbourne's concert was her fifth in catching Adam, she is 63 years old and she still does what she likes. She went to US to catch him, supported him at SG'S F1 Grand Prix, and on wednesday, she flew up to Sydney to be with her daughter and went for the Sydney's concert as well. She is so healthy and fit that she'd rather walk around the city than take a tram. I was her guide for a day and to be honest, my legs were yelling out for them to take a break. It felt really good cause it kinda felt that I was with my mum. Young at heart.

ALSO! Janet will be heading down to Melbourne and we'll be heading to Brisbane together!!! =) I'm so happy that I'm going to see her after four months. I can't wait, no words can express the excitement I have!

I made Tiramisu last week, and I wanted to post up the pictures. However, I was preoccupied with school work that I didn't have the time to blog and upload pictures. I have to say that my first try in making Tiramisu is pretty good ok! Though I think I have to soak the fingers a little more.

J and I were feeling damn bored at home, so we went to the Docklands in search for some good seafood. In the process of doing so, we chanced upon BlueFire- A Carnivorous Buffet - what more can we asked for? We are blood-sucking meat lovers!! It cost Aud$45/person, but it was a pretty good deal for free flows of meat and fish! Lots of people, and the atmosphere was exceptionally happy, wonderful place to hang out.

Home-Made Chocolate Truffles with Almonds and Bailey's

After having countless of Soon -Ee's delicious truffles for the past 2 weeks, I decided to give it a go! I guess I developed a flow (think Csíkszentmihályi), while making them. They were pretty easy to make though, and I'm so keen in experimenting them with different fillings and coating, as I go along. The process of truffle-making was a little time consuming,because I was rushing to rock-climb in the evening! I didn't think it was a successful success?!?? haha, it came out nice, but it didn't taste as exotic as I would want it to be.

LindT Chocolate Bars! - They are the better brands of chocolate in Melbourne, but it's my first try and so, i didn't want to get an expensive bar yet!

Melted Chocolate - get those with 60% or more cocoa
I'd prefer a sweeter and richer filling, so I added more milk chocolate than dark ones. It's your truffle, do whatever you want man!

Chopped Almonds - Roasted ones would give truffles a better taste!

Don't they look good? haha, after rolling them individually into imperfect truffle-looking, these chocolate were coated with generous amount of almonds.

I went to research on them, and apparently they can be stored in the fridge for weeks, or longer if frozen. I'll probably try putting raspberry in them in the next try! They sound good together - Dark Chocolate Truffle with Raspberry Filling! Probably place some gold leaves as well!heh!

Back From Space

I've been spaced out for too long that I have to start writing again!So much things have been happening in my life right now, and it's quite massive to really update on my blog. It's not that I've been lazy (maybe, a little), but honestly, I don't know why I stop blogging. Anyway, here's a short and detailed update, after leaving SG this july.

I'm taking English Lit and Behavioural Studies at Monash. Well, it's week 8 now and I have to endure a few more 3000 words essay. You know I have never knew that the technical side of English could be this tough,having to analyze the faults of this language. But I'm really enjoying it so much. It does make a lot of difference in studying what you're passionate about!

Putting aside school, because in two weeks time, I'll be HEADING TO SYDNEY! J will be visiting his sis, and I was thinking, I wanna go to! We're going to be having jigging/fishing trips! HORSE-RIDING on beaches, or somewhere near the mountains, I'm really looking forward to it! =) Also, I will be visiting TOPSHOP in Sydney, I can't wait..Not that I need a break from school work, but I just want to have a holiday, and travel around Aus. I might sky dive in Syd, cause apparently it's cheaper, but it all boils down to how much money I've left at the end of this month! *Budgeting* And it doesn't really help that each time I have to travel to and fro from my apartment to the station, I have to pass by Spencer Street Shopping Stretch, and it isn't helping that Melbourne is in Spring, and new stuff are displayed constantly..Arghh, self-control!

In October, I'll be going to Adam Lambert's concert! How exciting rightt...I've never been to a concert in my life, and ooh! I can't wait for the 14th of October! Anyway, there's been quite a few activities planned in the next few months, I think my family will be heading down South for my mum's birthday, and then heading up to brissy to visit my sis, and we'll all head back to SG in December! Even though, I'm trying to head West to Perth, we'll see how it goes!! Janettt!!!

If you asked, life's pretty good here..Making friends, and enjoying what Melbourne has to offer. Cell group has been enjoyable and light hearted, and to know God's love has no boundaries.My worship ministry, Act1v8, at Cross Culture has been more than refreshing and lifting to my spiritual needs, and I'm glad I took the decision to stand firm in my walk with Christ. I've been exposed to the technical side of singing, and learning from those who are masters in music. Their talents are so commendable, and seeing so many of them coming to practice, despite mid-term exams/assignments have just encourage my faith further, and to serve God in a whole new level. And did I forgot to mention that SELINA HENG, YES SELINA HENG was again in Melbourne!! She came for a month, and just left on the 4th of September. I think for those who don't really know Sel would have thought that the both of us knew each other since we were in primary school! hahaha, but no, we met while promoting Apple's gadgets! I think it's so funny how we met, and that we could hit it off immediately! I think our personalities complement each other, because what I will not do, Sel would, and vice versa. I love how bubbly she is, and how I know I can count on her for honest advice. hahaha, so mushy! But, yes! I love you much, and can't wait to hang in december again! Btw, our 600 pics is in Debbie's record book for taking the most shot in a day!

So far, I've ate heaps of food. I've played L4D2, and sucked at it..haha, but it was fun, shooting aimlessly at everything. I cut my hair, and I looked younger, which is good I guess? No! haha! I've been disciplined to work out 6x/week. I've bought so much stuff that I might have a problem putting them all in my luggage. Down with 3 weeks, I wonder what other crazy things I might be doing.

Is it burning in SG? haha, my dad texted me on the day of my last paper, and told me that Nine West were having sales of 70%. Nice. He sent it just before I entered the hall, my heart raced just thinking about their boots! SHOP SHOP SHOP!!

Well, the past semester was pretty tough, but thank God for favour in doing well.=) I want to do so many things in SG! Bring my granny for yum cha at Chinatown, bring both Fluffy and Bubble out for dog picnic at Sentosa, Fluffy is eleven years old, and he hasn't been to the beach. For Bubble, I think he'll just do whatever we do. Head up to Macritchie for a run, meet up with my primary school kids, hang out with those I didn't get a chance to meet when I was back in Feb! Eat ban mian, lots of ban mian and fried dumpling, peking duck, chicken rice, and orh ni!!

And at the same time, I can't wait to be back in Melbourne, becauseeeee TIM BURTON'S WINTER EXHIBITION will be here!!! http://www.acmi.net.au/timburton.aspx

Ever since we stopped coaching at Adam Khoo Learning Technology Group (AKLTG), I haven't seen Trissy for about six years! She's in Melbourne for a week to visit her cousin. At first, I thought it'll be a little awkward, but we hit it off straight from the start!We met up for dinner, I took her around the city, and although the conversation were more of a grown-up girly talk, but I felt the same closeness we once shared. All the crazy nights in and out of AKLTG, all the late carbs-loading prata boom at Tanjong Pagar, all the emo-ing and firing up session from Adam,Stewart and Ramesh that we had to go through in the programmes, all the laughter that we shared, the late night sleeping, and waking up feeling groggy together. The list could really go on and on! It dawned upon me that I need to invest doubly more in my friends!

Anyway,I'm so excited about Vegenite tmr!

Let's Do Something!

Well, 3 weeks of craziness has passed, and I'm just down with a feature that is due in 2 weeks. After that, I'll be having my exams on the 27,28,29 of May.. AND HOME SWEET HOME! I'm going take the MRT home, put my stuff down at, and head to the market for some good BAN MIAN AND GUO TIE! I missed it sooo much.

And so, I shared on Acts 6 1:7 - So The Word Of God Spread during cell group yesterday. I learnt a lot during these few weeks, and I'm really glad that I took the chance to step out. Feeling really blessed by all that is happening.

Anyway, I'm going to be leading in my first church event this Saturday - VEGENITE!! It's an event catered to all international student for a night of Word,worship,games, fellowshipping, and munching!! Even though I'm new to the team,I know this will stretch my faith further. My Wednesdays have been my spirit lifting sessions, met quite a few leaders in the church, and really inspired by all the talents and their willingness to come all the way down from Bundoora to the city to attend practice from 7.30pm-10ishpm. Bundoora is far, like really far. haha, I like to think that I'm on a 2 years mission trip in Australia, studying and reaching out to as many people as I can while still in Melbourne.Been fun and enriching thus far! =)

Yesterday, I led P&W at Cell w/o any musical instrument.It was wonderful, just our voices worshipping God.However, I could feel that some of my members were holding back, they were afraid to sing and clap, afraid to lift their hands to worship. I understand they don't have the habit in doing Praise and worship. But,I'm so filled with thanksgiving. Thanksgiving for the opportunity to share about the power of Praise and Worship, the wonderful ways in worshipping God, sharing the msg that members are able to draw down God's presence, and not just the worship leader, or the cell group leader. Thank God for the opportunities to allow me to let them experience a deeper connection with Him.Hopefully, yesterday's session will become a weekly routine from now on..=)

And,I am so desperate for God's presence, being so far away from my home church & cell, it isn't easy to have the spiritual support from others who don't really know your personal struggles. Hopefully, God will help me on that. Anyway, my heart is just filled with the Holy Spirit, and I know I've won the constant battle with the devil in so many different ways, because despite all the negativity that surrounds me sometimes, Jesus has always provided a way for me.

The next 4 weeks is gonna be a challenge for me, but I'm trusting God with all that I have.All I need to do is trust Him, and give my all.

I'm having a love/hate relationship with Melbourne's weather. There could be four seasons in a day! Anyway, the next 4 weeks will be crazy, as I'm completely packed with assignments. Not that I'm complaining about it, it's tough, but I'm really enjoying it so much!God has been really good to me, as the grades that I get back are pretty good..=) Hopefully, I'll continue this awesome streak!

Anyway, I'm coming back in June for maybe a month or so. Initially, my plan was to head up to Sydney for a short trip, or ski at Mt. Buller with my family. However, due to the fact that my dad had an angioplasty procedure for 2 blocked artery.So, I'd rather go home then for them to travel down south. So, I'm hoping to catch up more with those I've missed out on in Feb.

I WANNA GO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS AND TAKE THE RIDES!! The last time I went to Orlando was when I was 5 years old, had a vague memory on that. How much can a 5 year old remember? The only thing I could recall was the 'Shark', something to do with the flood, the king kong, and some explosion. I can't remember if it was Disney, but ya!! I'm so excited to go homee!!

I wanted to have dinner at Little Creature,which is a famous brewery/rest that is well known for their chili mussels, and cinnamon doughnuts with vanilla ice cream!But they don't do booking, and even though my friends were there at 6ish, the tables were all full, and if we wanted to get in, we would have to wait for about 2-3hrs.Quite disappointing but oh well, I found a place that didnt have anyone in it, and the place had this vampireish feel about it. They had red velvet curtains, dim lighting, and crimson quilted sofas that was pretty alluring!haha,Anyway!

1) At the rate that my hair are falling out, I will be bald at 30, or earlier.

School had been satisfying and enriching in the past 2 months, plus I 've learnt soo much I cant wait to go back to share.My exams are just around the corner, with the first paper on the 27th of jan and the last one on the 30th,which is on a saturday..Sweet..I'm pretty much left with one essay and I'm done for the term.Wee!
